Weddings, parties, receptions, everything has been deleted, and tourism is also on its way. What to do with those empty hotels? Well, offering it as a workplace for all those home workers, thought the owners of Slot Hotel Schagen and Grand Hotel Opduin on Texel.
From March onwards, bookings fell sharply at the hotels. "There are a few business guests who continue to work, but otherwise it has come to a standstill here," says co-owner Angelina Sleutel-Nijssen of Slot Hotel Schagen. "The room reservations are also continuously canceled." There are hardly any guests at the Texel hotel either. Co-owner Floris-Jan Zwaag: "Normally we have about 220, now three."
