Monique from the blog Moonologist worked for a day in hotel Mariënhage in Eindhoven. Her report:

“I don't easily suffer from concentration problems. But when I write I need to have some peace around me. You understand that the combination of being at home 24/7 with the children and my work as a blogger is not ideal. Still, I know how to make the most of it and, for example, I make some time in the evening when I have been unable to do enough during the day. I'd rather not do it, but there is no other way. Or is it? When I got the offer to 'work from home' in a hotel room for a day, I didn't have to think twice about it ...

In addition to cafes and restaurants, these are also difficult times for hotels. Many are even closed and of the hotels that are open most of the rooms are empty. That fact and the fact that many people are unable or difficult to work from home on an actually quite obvious idea. Hotels offer their rooms at a relatively low price, so that you have the chance to work and rest in peace for a day. I think it's brilliant.

Hotel Mariënhage in Eindhoven

Since I am not concerned with the environment, I prefer a hotel close to home. And it worked. Hotel Mariënhage is located in the center of Eindhoven and is a beautiful boutique hotel, located in a monumental monastery. The hotel opened its doors at the end of 2019 and I was always very curious about what it looks like on the inside. But who is going to a hotel in his or her own city? Normally not of course, but this is the perfect opportunity to do so.

The hotel has five different room types and connects the present with the past through design. Everywhere you see references and winks to the ecclesiastical purpose that this building had in earlier times. I stay in a double 'Blue Virgin' room. Read more about Monique's experience on her blog
